December 31st, 2003
The last update of the year contains thoughts on my third viewing of the
movie Notting Hill, as well as a full
book review of Isaac Asimov's Pebble in the
Sky. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
December 24th, 2003
Two new reviews today: the Star Wars comic
The Devaronian Version, but more
importantly, the movie version of The
Return of the King! Merry Christmas to
everybody!
December 21st, 2003
Today I've added my reviews for Star Trek
Nemesis on DVD, and the Tolkien book
The Shaping of Middle-Earth.
December 8th, 2003
I've had a lot of trouble connecting to the site to upload stuff recently,
followed by emergency hospitalization, from which I am recovering.
So I have a bit of new stuff today, which I've been trying to post for several
weeks... I added another short review for
The Fellowship of the Ring (my
sixth!), some comments on the extended version of
The Two Towers, as well as adding a few short words about the special features of the
Indiana Jones Trilogy (linked below). Finally, my review for the Clone Wars
novel Shatterpoint is also available.
November 17th, 2003
I've finally reviewed the Indiana Jones Trilogy on DVD, but without the
special features (yet). Here are Raiders
of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and
the Temple of Doom, and Indiana
Jones and the Last Crusade!
November 11th, 2003
My review for the Star Trek novel This
Gray Spirit is finally available!
November 7th, 2003
I've reread the Darth Maul comics, and
put up some second impressions.
November 2nd, 2003
I have three more reviews today: The Lion
King on DVD, Star Wars: A New Hope (still
on video -I hope the rumors about a DVD release by next Christmas are true), and
the live production of Mamma Mia! As with
movies, this will effectively close down the live section, as far as I know. I
think most of what I will be seeing from now on are children's productions,
anyway...
October 23rd, 2003
I have three reviews tonight: Star Trek Mission Gamma novel,
Twilight, as well as the movies
Tomb Raider 2: Cradle of Life and
The Matrix Reloaded. These will likely
be the last new movies reviewed on this site. I am running out of time,
and would rather focus on books, anyway. I will continue to update movie reviews
for those that already exist on this site, whenever I re-watch them. Of course,
I will continue to review new (or old) Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, The
Matrix and Lord of the Rings movies when they come out. In general, however, the
movie sections are now closed.
October 18th, 2003
My short revisit of Mission:
Impossible 2 is now available.
October 10th, 2003
A short review of the non-fiction book
Bad Astronomy has been posted.

the V TV series premiere.
September 30th, 2003
The review of the Dragonlance fantasy novel
The Soulforge is now available.
September 27th, 2003
The review for the comic tale The
Stark Hyperspace War is now available.
September 21st, 2003
Two reviews for today: the fantasy movie
Spirited Away, and the fantasy novel
Legacy of the Darksword.
September 16th, 2003
I have posted my review of the SF movie Signs.
September 13th, 2003
My new (somewhat scathing) review for Shadows of the
Empire, the novel, is now available.
September 11th, 2003
It was two years ago that I was supposed to see Stomp live, but of course,
nobody was in the mood to either watch or perform a rousing show that night. It
seems strange that two years later, to the week, I saw the IMAX film produced by
the people who made Stomp. Here is the very short review for
Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey.
September 7th, 2003
I decided to watch the director's audio commentary for
Attack of the Clones. I don't know
what is up with the banners on this site, now. There appear to be advertising
banners at the top and bottom of the page! At least most of the pop-up ads have
disappeared, I guess...
September 3rd, 2003
I have reviewed the New Jedi Order short story
Ylesia, as well as one of the Young Indiana
Jones adventures, The Phantom Train
of Doom. I have decided to split up the Boba Fett short story
Salvage from the TPB where it was
included, Enemy of the Empire. Not
that I wanted more web pages, but I thought, since it was a separate tale, with
different authors and artists, it deserved its own page. I also split the
"recent updates" page in two for 2003. Older updates from this year can be found
here.
August 31st, 2003
My review for The New Jedi Order novel
Destiny's Way is now available.
August 24th, 2003
The last two reviews, which allow me to be temporarily caught-up! The SF
book Obernewtyn, and
Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire, for
the second time.
August 20th, 2003
Three more reviews, and I am almost caught up! I watched
V: The Original Mini-Series again, this time
on DVD, and I finished Isaac Asimov's SF book
The Currents of Space. Finally, I went
to see Miss Saigon, live, and decided it
merited a short review.
August 15th, 2003
Now quite recovered from that massive power blackout, but since I can't go to work,
I thought I should catch up on some reviews. Today I have a fantasy movie,
Labyrinth, revisited, and my first
viewing of the SF movie X-Men United.
August 9th, 2003
Today brings a science fiction book review,
Probability Moon, followed by a science
fiction movie review, Terminator 3:
Rise of the Machines.
August 6th, 2003
Two reviews today, of older movies: Star
Trek Generations, and the original

Generation Companion book.
June 22nd, 2003
Now available are the IMAX movie review

the Icewind Dale Trilogy, Streams of
Silver. I have also completed my review of the last bits of the

The Right Stuff.

Two SF movie reviews today, both revisited on TV:
Star Trek: First Contact, and
The Matrix.

Two more Jedi Apprentice reviews, books 10 and 11
The Shattered Peace, and
The Deadly Hunter.

and Legacy of the Jedi.
March 25th, 2003
Another IMAX double-feature, in Ring of Fire
and Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees.
March 22nd, 2003
I just love long books, especially if I can keep myself from reading them
too quickly. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth novel
Faith of the Fallen was well worth
the time spent on it, and the very long review.
March 11th, 2003
The reviews for the movies Robin
Hood (the Disney animated version), and
Stargate (on DVD) have been added to the site, as well as a revisit to the
Star Wars X-Wing comic Mandatory

guide page for my next novel, the Sword of Truth book 6:
Faith of the Fallen, is also
available.
March 3rd, 2003
An IMAX double-feature: Bears, and some more
notes on Space Station! I also removed the
Columbia tribute, hard as that was to do. It has only been a month, but with the
new modifications to the site, I am anxious to return to its original state. My
mind still goes with Columbia, however.
February 23rd, 2003
I reread the Jedi Council: Acts of War
graphic novel, and added a few comments to my previous review. I have also added
an alphabetical listing of all the books

February 4th, 2003
My review for the New Jedi Order novel
Rebel Stand is now on-line.
February 3rd, 2003
My heart broke on Saturday February 1st, when I saw the break-up of the
space shuttle Columbia on landing approach, as it did back in 1986 when
Challenger exploded. The images were a lot more subtle this time, especially
after 16 successful days in space. I was numb and pretty much speechless for
most of the day, and I still can't think of suitable words for this tragedy. My
heart goes out to those closest to the seven astronauts. As they have said, may
the dream of space travel continue.
I'm watching Star Wars: Episodes I and II back-to-back. The review for my
sixth viewing of The Phantom Menace is
now available.
January 31st, 2003
