After a Long Winter, humanity ends thousands of years of hibernation by watching the signs for them to emerge into the outside world.

This was a cool science fiction story, about humanity in the far, far future, recovering from what was probably a nuclear war. There is some strange stuff that seems like magic in here, though, which frustrates the story.
