While the distancing between Katniss and Gale contnues and is very well done, the advance through the streets full of explosive pods makes no sense to me, either in the movie or the book. How did they do this in such a short time? The global uprising was interesting, as it's something we couldn't have seen in the book, and the aftermath was horrifying. But the two moments that should have had the biggest impact (the double explosion and the final arrow shot) were almost anti-climactic. |

While I find some of the story elements to be questionable, they were well-executed in the movie. The visuals are great -especially the huge wave of oil. Katniss and Peeta are appropriately shell-shocked, and there are two moments that especially tugged at the heart-strings -one of which Peeta mentions all the people who were killed in their Hunger Games. |

Katniss is seriously shell-shocked in this movie. And when things finally seem to start going her way, life goes crazy again. Her best scenes are with Peeta in the Capitol as they get to know each other again. |

Strange that I enjoyed this movie less than the previous one this time around. Maybe it's because of the focus on the war, or the way it differs so much from the book, while still maintaining the same basic flow. I did like the way Katniss simply stowed away on a hovercraft instead of undergoing the training that she did in the book- it was so much simpler, and had a great emotional impact. |

I liked this movie better the second time around. Yes, it's about war and about post traumatic stress disorder, so it's depressing, but the mental fight was present almost all the time. I wasn't too fond of the surprises that the Capitol left for them, as there were maybe too many or too few, and the ending wasn't quite how I imagined it. But it still did a really good job of helping Katniss find herself. The scene in the rose garden with Snow was one of the best. |

I realize this was hard to bring to the screen, and they did a pretty good job, but I think this was the weakest movie regardless. It didn't have the emotional punch that the previous one did, even when Katniss changes aim at the end of the movie. |
