The two sequel movies could have been combined into one. There is so much filler, especially at the beginning, and the action sequences, though they are cool, are way too long. Neo's sequences are very philosophical, so much that they don't make much sense. The final battle with Smith was like a bad Superman movie, where they just hit each other over and over again; I thought Neo would have gone in with a strategy of sorts. On the plus side, the visuals were terrific, and the battles and fight scenes were really well visualized.

The special effects were the only thing worth seeing in this movie. There was no real plot, and the characters barely appeared at all! None of the resolution made sense, and nothing was resolved from the previous film. Everything that needed to be explained was left way too vague. The battle sequences were way too long, and there wasn't really anything new explored by them, anyway. Neo and Smith have fought hand-to-hand before, they know neither can win, so why bother? In the end, Neo did the right thing by letting Smith infect him, so that he could in turn infect Smith. The only thing I really liked about this movie was the fact that neither side actually won. Humans and machines ended with a truce. The philosophy was reintroduced at the very end of the movie, with the cyclic nature of The One, but none of it made any sense.
