The weakest of the original trilogy, I found it better than I was expecting. The plot was riveting, unfortunately the execution was muddled. The drug that could turn mutants into regular humans was actually from the blood of a mutant who reduces powers to nothing. The battle was poorly fought, Jean Grey had almost nothing to do with it, and her surrender and suicide barely meant anything. The tease at the end implies that the syrum doesn't last very long; I wonder if Rogue will inadvertently revert, as Magneto appears to be doing. The first time I saw this movie, I didn't know anything about end credit scenes, and never realized that Professor X had transferred his consciousness! Looking forward to Days of Future Past.

Entertaining, but without all that much punch, which is ironic in an action movie like this. So many people lose their special powers, permanently, that it really does feel like a last stand! This is the first time, however, that I knew about the sequence after the credits, where Xavier is reborn. This explains his appearance in Days of Future Past.

I liked this movie, but I thought the second one was best. I'll bet everyone has wanted to see mutant fight mutant, so this delivers, but not as much as you would think. Most of the evil mutants die without showing us what they can do, or only after a quick display, before they are rendered human again. They must have really thought this was the last movie, as so many of the main characters die, including Xavier. Is the ending a tease, or will there be a fourth movie? Perhaps the cure isn't so permanent, after all, as Magneto seems to still be able to move metal, at least a little… will Rogue learn that the hard way? There wasn't enough Rogue in the movie!
