The winners of the previous Hunger Games tour the districts, which are ripe for revolution, while the next Games provides a huge shock to the victors. |

Easily the best of the series, I love the way they recreated the clock of the arena, and the characters were amazingly fleshed out. I loved Joanna, and Finnick was great. The scheming amounts to nothing because everybody knows Katniss can't keep a secret. Terrific, and with the spark that was missing from the first movie. The terror that they see on their tour is a larger thing than the individual terror of the first movie. |

Probably the best movie of the four. I really liked the character interaction, especially the actor who plays Finnick, who portrayed the character with terrific looks and gestures. |

The characters make this movie work. I think they are a lot more angry than in the book, but it works, especially in the context of what is coming. The Victory tour was haunting, showing how much they don't know about the rest of the Districts, and what's going on. The Games themselves are about protecting Katniss, which means protecting Peeta, because otherwise she'd give up on life. Her realization that her life would be under public scrutiny forever saw a huge change within her, and her attitude towards Snow was cemented. |

Having so recently reread the book, I think this movie shines even more. But compared to the book, the movie is only a tiny piece of what actually happened. There is so much more in the book, so many scenes, character moments, which all pass by in such a blur when they happen here. But the scenes in the arena were once again great, and there is a sense of emotion in this movie that was missing from the first one. |

This movie moved at a much quicker pace than the first one, and it's such a whirlwind. I remember wondering where Katniss' broken leg was, because this was such a defining moment for the character, but I guess a lot of it needs to be cut to make it manageable. The visuals are great, and I had to laugh at Effie's statement that the games center was "upgraded" for the 75 Hunger Games -it's obvious that the studio was now willing to spend more money on displaying what they could do, now that they had a genuine hit on their hands. |
